We are so excited for the launch of our very first book! Here’s a little excerpt from the introduction in the book, which gives you a general idea of where the book started.

“We are so excited that you are joining us! We wanted to take a brief moment and introduce you to our inspiration for the book and give you a little idea of what we have planned for you in the pages that follow.

The idea for this book started when Rachel and Catrina (Reading) were having a conversation about colours and hand-painted fibre and how great it would be if there were a reference type book, similar to a ‘learning atlas’ for how to spin colour. Both Catrina and Rachel have careers in the field of science, but for those not in the know, think of a series of microscope slides printed one after the other in a column with a simple explanation of what one is seeing in the slide, that is essentially what a learning atlas is. Rachel then reached out to Katrina (Stewart), who happens to be a professional photographer and an enthusiastic handspinner, about collaborating to bring this book to fruition. And so the journey began.”

Local pickups are available in Richmond, and Pitt Meadows only. If we are shipping the book to you, any shipping overages will be refunded.

I am a new spinner, having fallen in love with the look of hand spun yarn and the beautiful fibres I’ve seen at festivals. Problem is, I have no idea how to turn the fibres into the gorgeous hand spuns posted all over Instagram. This book is amazing as it talks about all the methods of plying, and then shows pictures of the same braid, spun, plied, and knit up in various ways. I’m inspired to go spin all my braids now, and I have a foolproof guide for how to do it!
