20 years ago today, we stood surrounded by friends

20 years ago today, we stood surrounded by friends and family and promised to love each other wholly and completely from that day forward. We promised to listen through hurts and struggles and always put each other first. We promised a life filled with adventure, plenty of baking and most of all respect. Respect for our time as individuals and together.

The last 20 years have been filled with ups and downs. We were lucky to bring two amazing kiddos into this world and who have added so much joy to our lives. We've had some grand adventures in our time together and I am grateful to walk through life with someone who sees me and supports me. We are each other's biggest cheerleaders and I couldn't have chosen a better life partner. Eric, I love you. I know you won't see this post unless I show it to you, but 20 years felt like one to celebrate! Happy Anniversary 💖 And now I'm off to bake some nutmeg logs!

Yesterday was our travel day home from Knit City in Calgary and today I'm prepping to head North on Thursday to Fort St John. I will be teaching an ice dyeing workshop on Friday night @mytwohands.ca and then will be vending on Saturday at the first Fleece and Fibre Affair. So if you're close to Fort St John, I hope you'll come check it out and say hello!!

A look at the same colourway dyed on our Divine Lace and Divine Lace bright bases. They are both 100% Tussah Sill, but Divine Lace is the natural honey colour of the silk and the Bright has been lightened to white!

Grateful for the time we've spent here this week. Back to reality tonight and back to the dye pots tomorrow!

Are you a sock knitter? Did you know that we have

Are you a sock knitter? Did you know that we have two bases that are perfect for socks?

On the left is our Tough and Tender base... it is a delightful blend of 90% SW Targhee and 10% Nylon.... it's equal parts soft, bouncy and durable. If you've been following me for a while, you'll likely have heard me talking about trying to save this base, as I've struggled for the last year and a half to get it from my regular supplier. I'm still working hard to reach my goal of raising $60,000 to buy a huge lot of it from different supplier and if you want more details about that.... you can check out my YouTube videos or previous posts.

On the right is our Heartfelt Sock base and this one is super special for me. When I couldn't find a commercially spun non superwash, non nylon sock yarn, I designed my own. I started by test spinning some blends and landed on a 75% BFL and 25% Kid Mohair blend that is equal parts strong, soft and hard wearing. I then sent a sample of my handspun to the mill and they took the necessary measurements off the yarn and now custom spin this base for me to match my handspun specs. We've carried it for about 4 years now and it is rapidly becoming a favourite for those who have knit with it before.
