It's finally redone! When we moved into our place... almost 13 years ago... I didn't love the fireplace. It has been something we've talked about redoing for a long, long time and this summer we actually tackled it. Eric did most of the work and I think it looks amazing. A day spent with my three favourite people. We hiked to Viewpoint Beach in Golden Ears Park, had lunch, skipped rocked, walked across the river (or got carried if you're lucky), took the route down by Lower Falls and then home. It's days like today where I'm reminded how lucky I am to live where I do and have these amazing people in my life. Not to mention that there were so many colour possibilities 😍

Today I'm experimenting..... I'm dyeing up some small samples of colours to see what ones I want to use for a new braid idea. I don't normally use a microwave in my dye process but it works the best for these small samples!

A little peak at what came out of the dye pots from yesterday. If you saw my post yesterday, you'll know that the day before, I'd accidentally put the wrong yarn into one of my dye pots. I quickly pulled it out, but it had already left a faint tint of grey on the yarn. So yesterday I decided to make the most of it and make a couple of new colours. Since the Oops Yarn was Heartfelt, I decided to also test the new colours on Tough and Tender so that I can swatch them. I'm pretty excited to see how they knit up, and I always love making something beautiful from an oopsie!

Yesterday... I put the wrong yarn into a dye pot. This is not a fun thing to do, as it leaves you scrambling to pull the yarn out and fix the mistakes. So today I am playing with two new colours to see what I can come up with. Fingers crossed they end up being okay...

Thinking of adding a new "snack spin" size of braids to our line up... these would be 25 gram bundles in a variety of fibres and colours. You could use them for carding or blending boards or for spinning colours for a colourwork sweater.... What do you think? Do you love this idea or not?
